FEE STRUCTURE

NOTES ON LEGAL FEES:

• Legal fees are charged pursuant to the Practice Direction issued by the Chief Justice dated 22nd October 2015.
• Attorneys at Law reserve the right to withdraw for non-payment or part of all fees agreed without refund or deposit.
  
• Disbursements are for the Account of the Client.
  
• Attorneys at Law reserve the right to charge interest after fourteen (14) days of non payment of fees.
• Attorneys at Law have a lien on the client’s documents that is released upon the termination of a retainer and payment in full of the fee on brief, together with all outstanding requisitions for disbursements.
• The law now requires Attorneys at Law to obtain satisfactory evidence of the identity of clients. You are required to provide documents to verify identity such as a National Identification Card and Passport. To verify address please provide a copy of a conveyance or/rental lease agreement and a utility bill.
• Attorneys at Law remain under a professional obligation to keep their clients affairs confidential. This obligation is subject to statutory exception. Recent legislation on money laundering has placed all Lawyers under a duty in certain circumstances to report or disclose information to the Financial Investigation Unit in particular where an Attorney knows or suspects that a transaction on behalf of a client involves money laundering, he is required to disclose this to the Authority and is unable to inform you that such disclosure has been made. The law forbids tipping off. Additionally we cannot accept payments in cash exceeding TTD $6,000.00.
• Deposits and conference fees are non-refundable.
• Clients are reminded that all FIU Forms must be filled out prior to commencement of matters.
• The terms of any legal memorandum of fees are confidential and subject to the terms of the Legal Profession Act Chap 90:03

Ms. Tiffany Ali has developed a comprehensive, private practice in Criminal and Civil Law with 6 years experience at the Trinidad and Tobago bar.

Ms. Ali has appeared in capital and non-capital criminal matters, as well as contentious and non-contentious civil matters, in the capacity of instructing attorney and advocate attorney, at the Magistrates' Court, High Court and Court of Appeal. Ms. Ali also has an evolving presence in the Family, Children and Domestic Violence Courts. As of 2022, Ms. Ali is also representing litigants at the Privy Council.

As a regular volunteer at local legal clinics, Ms. Ali lends her experience and provides access to justice for minorities, victims of gender based violence, and foreign refugees.
